Oberfeuer Preußeneck

At the tip of the Butjadingen Peninsula lies the Oberfeuer Preußeneck lighthouse in Eckwarderhörne. The 45-meter-high lighthouse, decommissioned in 2012, is listed as a historic monument due to its significance in local and technical history. From two observation platforms at heights of 18.40 and 34.50 meters, visitors can enjoy views of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park, the unique marshland landscape of Butjadingen stretching into the sea, and the harbor and naval city of Wilhelmshaven with the Jade-Weser Port on the opposite side. Next to the tower is the former engine house, now converted into a small documentation center. Using modern presentation techniques, it showcases the history of the lighthouse, the region, and its cultural landscape, as well as the historical development of the Jade Bay and the Outer Jade area.
