Lindesnes

Lindesnes lighthouse is Norway's oldest lighthouse and is located in Lindesnes municipality.

On 27 February 1656, Norway's first lighthouse was lit here. This was extinguished in the autumn of the same year, as a result of complaints about poor light. But the lighthouse was officially founded in 1656. It was no coincidence that Lindesnes was the place where the first lighthouse in Norway was lit. Ever since the Middle Ages, Lindesnes, or Neset, as the place was called, has been one of the most important landmarks for those sailing between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

Today, the lighthouse is a popular destination and museum, open all year round.
