Eckmühl

The Eckmühl lighthouse was inaugurated in 1897. It was built on the Pointe of Saint-Pierre in Penmarc'h (Finistère) to replace the former old-fired lighthouse, which was not high enough.

This lighthouse was erected in memory of the Marshal Prince of Eckmühl by his daughter

Adélaïde Louise of Eckmühl, Marquise of Bloqueville.

The work began on September 1893. To comply with the wishes of the testator, the lighthouse tower is entirely made of Kersanton stone. In addition to the beautiful woodwork in the guardroom where stands a magnificent bronze statue of Marshal Davout, the interior of the tower is paneled with opaline slabs. All the metal-work and the banister are made of burnished bronze.

The technical part of the lighthouse includes 2 original Fresnel optics with two 70 W halogen bulbs emitting an intermittent white signal every 5 seconds.
