Phare du Grau du Roi
The historic lighthouse of Le Grau-du-Roi was built in 1827 and lit in 1828. It is the oldest lighthouse in the region. The old lighthouse is classified as a historical monument and was inhabited until the 1970s. It stands at the entrance of the channel, just steps from the Tourist Office. Renovated in 2019, the color of the walls was faithfully reproduced to match the original 19th-century paint. The Lighthouse House, located on the ground floor of the old lighthouse, hosts an engaging, interactive discovery area dedicated to the lighthouse and the world of fishing, perfect for family visits. Climbing to the top of the lighthouse is not open to the public. The visit is organized around three rooms of the house, focusing on three themes: the history of the lighthouse, a day of fishing, and portraits of fishermen.
