Old lighthouse Balje

The lighthouse was a leading and cross light for ships travelling up the Elbe. It is located on the Lower Elbe in Lower Saxony near Balje-Hörne in the dyke foreland on the left bank of the Elbe, diagonally opposite Brunsbüttel, in a straight line to the locks of the Kiel Canal, at Elbe kilometre 700.35. Identification is a leading beam fixed light white with a warning sector starboard single flash white, Warning sector port double flash white, Cross mark was a fixed light red.
