Valentia Island

This is a harbour light to guide vessels from sea and lead them through the northern entrance of Valentia Harbour past Harbour Rock. The tower is of cut stone, painted white, and the light is 54 feet above mean high water springs. The old walls of the fort were mostly retained and only where necessary were any alterations made. The light was first exhibited on 1 February 1841 over a year before the whole establishment was completed.
