Farol de Alfanzina
The Alfanzina Lighthouse was planned in the 1883 General Lighthouse Plan for the Portuguese coast. Technical studies began in 1913, and the land was acquired in 1915. It became operational on December 1, 1920, with a 3rd order optical device (500 mm focal length) powered by a clockwork mechanism and petroleum vapor light. Electrified in 1950 with generators, it switched to electric incandescent lamps. In 1952, housing was built for lighthouse keepers. The access road was completed in 1961. In 1980, it was connected to the public power grid and automated in 1981. In 2004, it was upgraded with the DF system, including a SATI 400V/AC motor, DF 2003 lamp changer with 3 halogen lamps, POWER 24V/12A battery charger, Lister TS2 engine, and 11KVa alternator.
