Faro Sabinal

The current Sabinal lighthouse, with its 32-meter tower – the tallest of the Almería lighthouses – is the second lighthouse built in this area. It was inaugurated in 1926.

Located in a very flat area, where numerous shipwrecks and groundings have occurred, its lighthouse keepers, including several members of the Gandolfo family, have had to assist many shipwrecked sailors. Today, the area where the lighthouse is located is included within the Punta Entinas-Sabinar Nature Reserve, in the municipality of El Ejido.

If you are in any way responsible for one or more lighthouses, you can contact us to have these lighthouses included on this website. The goal is to have as many lighthouses from all coastal nations in Europe placed on the map, so that many visitors can enjoy navigating the map or physically visiting the lighthouse stations.
