South Stack

South Stack Lighthouse, perched on a rocky islet off the coast of Anglesey, North Wales, has guided ships through the turbulent waters of the Irish Sea since 1809. Operated by Trinity House, this striking white tower stands 28 metres tall and is reached by descending a dramatic staircase of over 400 steps cut into the cliffside.

Set within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, South Stack is not only a working lighthouse but also a haven for seabirds and wildlife. The surrounding cliffs are home to puffins, razorbills, and guillemots, making it a popular spot for nature lovers.

Visitors can tour the lighthouse and its engine room, learn about the keepers who once lived in isolation, and enjoy sweeping views from the lantern room. South Stack is a perfect blend of maritime heritage and natural wonder.

If you are in any way responsible for one or more lighthouses, you can contact us to have these lighthouses included on this website. The goal is to have as many lighthouses from all coastal nations in Europe placed on the map, so that many visitors can enjoy navigating the map or physically visiting the lighthouse stations.
